I’ve debated for weeks about featuring this next tune. At first? I hated it. It only has three words for lyrics! Repeated over and over again! With no distinguishable pattern!
And now? It’s one of my favorites. For the simple fact that I love the cacophony of sound that comes out in the car as we all attempt to sing along and fail, each one of us with our own rendition of how the lyrics appear.
The song is Chicken Monkey Duck by Mike Phirman. From what I gather, this guy is not a kids artist, but a comic. Anyone who writes their bio in Second Person gets a big thumbs up from me. This song was included on his album The Very Last Songs I Will Ever Record Pt. 1 (which is pretty funny. I highly recommend listening to other samples!) and it’s taken off on the kid circuit. While I thought for a while that the lyrics were sung at random, the video below proves me wrong, as ! Awesome.
MR B: Finally, one I can sing at the top of my lungs!

We LOVE Chicken Monkey Duck. When she hears the opening notes, Lily Ruth yells ‘CHICKENMONKEYDUCK!’, and I crank it up. Occasionally, I will even pull it up on youtube, and we’ll watch it for 20 minutes or so…
It’s an addictive little tune, huh? So simple, yet so complex…LOL
